Yes,you can get SSDI for what they call,'Mental Health Conditions',your Doc will have to submit his diagnosis and prognisis to SSDI,if he states your disability is expected to last over 12 months, you will qualify. My assets were not held against me for SSDI,homeowner,SUV,etc.I submitted to SSA by myself, was denied the first time(I honestly believe they do deny everyone the first time, like to weed out or some odd reason)I filed my reconsideration myself, but on month 26 I retained an attorney, went before an ALJ within the month and was given,"Immediate,Expedited Disability". I could see on the Judges' face his disdain for making me wait so long for being approved. My attorney sent me a bill,I told him via return mail to submit his bill to the SSA. That was the end of that,as far as I know,he got paid, but I never saw a decrease in my backpay award where they did pay him. You can go thru the process by yourself without an attorney, but in my case ,he was able to get me on the court docket very fast. Hope this helps,pm me if I can answer any questions. J. Edited to add: GREAT post,Needinfo. Very Thoughtful of you and definately accurate.Cool! ![]() |
