This is just a thought and what I did to get my SSI. Instead of hiring a high priced lawyer I went to my local Congressman. They were able to push through the paperwork and I was excepted the first time. I also owned my own home and drove a fairly new car and I don't think age has anything to with it.

Recently a friend of mine did the same thing and was also accepted immediately. It's worth a shot and it doesn't cost anything that way.
