I was a child of the seventies, and believe you me, we did some REALLY stupid stuff in our misspent youth...and I still turned out okay ( well, sorta! LOL).
As did MANY of us. But the issue of personal responsibility is paramount in this situation. It just really rubs me raw that ALL of us must be punished due to the misguided actions of one not-so-smart young man. Every single action Haight made was a choice ... from accessing the World Wide Web to taking that handful of pills, HE chose to do what he did. It's not our fault, yet we will all be affected by his actions.
My very best to your son, Kandi. I was drafted during Vietnam and I know how very nervous and concerned you must be. Although I thoroughly DESPISE the unfeeling idiots who got us into this miserable conflict, I utterly respect the military people who have to bear the brunt of this lunacy. May your son remain safe and healthy.
Regarding Ryan Haight - it's VERY interesting that in all the stories about this guy, it's RARELY mentioned that he had other things in his system besides the pills he allegedly ordered ... things which potentiated the narcotics he ingested. I always find it so ridiculous that when someone dies of combining pills and alcohol, one NEVER hears senators and their despicable ilk saying, "We must get rid of this perfidious alcohol." Hypocrites, all!
