I agree with a lot of what you say but my state's ecomomy would be dead without big Pharma (and little Pharma and biotech too). Yes, they overcharge. Yes, but they take some of that money and put some of it into new drugs. Another benefit is that the rest of the money goes into buying McMansions in the suburbs and exurbs. That supports the building industry and we get to chop down even more trees. Its a wonderful thing, isn't it?
