I have the temps also. The plakards are nice because you can use them in other cars when you ride with someone else. In KY temps are good for 6 months, renewable once without form, $2 each time and then after 1 year you need new form. Permanent are 6 year, something like $6, but you do have to go back in to the DMV to get the renewal. The nice thing is that you can either have a doctor fill out the form or if you know the county clerk he can atest that you need one. You can also get a duplicate of the permanent one, so you can have one for each car.
