Driving while taking medication, in my book, is the equivalent of driving after having a few drinks. An automatic no-no.
I agree with this except for one thing. What if you are on a round the clock medication like oxycontin or duragesic? You are on the medication 24 hours a day, and say you are going somewhere for a couple of days and need to bring the bottle with you? You are not impaired because you have been on this heavy narcotic for a long time and it is a very effective pain killer, but at the same time it doesn't give you a buzzy feeling anymore like hydro. You need to drive, but at the same time you are medicated 24 hrs. a day. What do you do? How do you explain this to the cop? Will you win in court? You are on heavy narcotics, yet not impaired to drive. Sorry if this is off topic a little. pete.
