Re:How can LE tell if you are DUI on pain meds?

Quote:

If you notice a rash of more tickets being given out and more cops on the road around August and September (or the last quarter of the year)that is probably because the state's budget that you live in begins and ends during that time. For example, Texas fiscal year ends August 31, and begins Sept 1 unlike the traditonal Jan1-Dec 31. The cops are out collecting REVENUE. Not doing police work.

I think each state sets its budget cycle and some coincide with Texas.

I used to be a 'revenuer' as they say in some parts of the country. The difference between me and the cops was that was my offical job duty as a tax collector for
Texas.

Find out when your state's fiscal year ends and be especially careful about one month before it ends, and the month it ends. Also holidays like Christmas are times to be extra careful too.

With this year being an exception, politicians are usual only nice during election years.

Very good observation, Kimbell, it makes perfect sense, especially the part about the politicians being usually only nice wen it's an election year...LOL. Hadn't thought of that one!!

But I think you're right, it all has to do with their fiscal year coming to an end and trying to make quotas before it closes out for them.

Revenue is always a good thing for the civil servants, especially when they're trying to ensure that they get their share of the tax dollars when all the numbers get crunched. I guess it doesn't make a darn whether it happened in February or September, the year as a whole is being analyzed, so it would make perfect sense for them to slack off for most of the year and then try to go out with a bang at the end.

Plus, think of the crime rate statistics, if they crack down towards the end of the year, then it makes your town or city's stats lower, but as long as they're getting the money somehow, whether it be towards the end of the year or not, then it's all well and good on their end. Very thought provoking...but I don't want to steer your topic off track entirely so, please, everyone, go back to the topic at hand and ignore my rambling...
