I don't see where the poster said what kind of permit they are refering to. I also have no knowledge of the laws but I do have an opinion.

If this is in fact a gun permit, I would hope that they would review the applicants medical records. For example someone suffering from schitzophrenia probably shouldn't be given a permit to carry a gun. My opinion of course. We all know that anyone determined to get a gun doesn't necessarily have to do it legally. And if they intend to use it to commit crimes, they are probably not going to get it legally anyway.

Just thinking out loud. Is this about a gun permit?
