Trampy, I agree there is a lot to Constitutional law and it should be studied, but your looking in the wrong place. Each state may have slightly different timetables, but there are stacks of case law that define the right to a speedy trial under the USC. Let us not forget that the federal law takes precedent and only those powers not specifically reserved by the USC are relegated to the states. In plain English, the state laws can often add too a federal law, but they can't take away from it.

You were right many people need more studying, but you might spend less time trashing others with bits of facts and more time researching an issue. That way we can put forward facts that people can weigh for themselves, and thereby help them in some small way. A half-truth can do more damage than a full lie...
