The delivery companies do ocassionally report unusual behavior. The most common source of an informant is when a drug user is arrested for a crime (ie shoplifting to support their drug habit) and they offer information about a "bigger fish" in order to get themselves out of trouble. I always love to watch TV and movies were the bad guys talk about "the code" or "honor among thieves." I laugh my head off. 95% of the people I arrested would offer up their own family, some actually did, to get out of going to prison. You have to kind of feel bad for a person who has hit that low of a point in their life, but there is an old saying amongst the OG's (Original Gangsters- a truly bad dude) "don't do the crime, if you can't do the time." Not sure of the origin, but I have heard many of the gang member's use it and it is appropriate.
