Re: Richard Paey gets 25 years.

25 years to life is CRAZY! It's like the old - Do you send a person in jail for stealing food for his family to live. Get real! People should go to jail to protect society. This guy is not going to do it agian. He should be given proper treatment - and sent home in my oh so humble opinion.

I don't know when we have become such an unforgiving society. If someone indangers the rest of us - then maybe jail is the best place. Especially repeat offrenders. But for this guy to go to jail for being desperate for pain relief - then send me too - cause I'm desperate too. "Junkies" or I prefer to call them People suffering from addiction - don't need jail either - that's where you learn to be a criminal - even if you aren't. They need
mandatory treatment - and a long one. Heck - it costs enough to keep someone in jail - treatment is just as affordable. And I'd rather pay double as a tax payer to HELP someone than destroy their lives. If you want to pay for them for the rest of their lives by sending them to jail over and over without treating the source of the problem - then send them to jail.

I'd rather send addicts or people suffering from pain that have commited crimes home after treating them - to their kids where they can now have a chance at life. And the kids can also so they don't follow suit.

I know someone - a family member of my husbands battling heroine addiction that has been to jail more time than NOT. He commits crimes to get money for his drugs. Over and over. He won't stop until the state pays for him to be treated. If he can spend 5 years in jail - he can spend 1 year getting better and never going back.

Come on folks - and I'm not talking to most of you as you mostly are on the same page - just out loud in general - let's try a little bit of compassion here! We're so blood hungry! (And of course I am mostly referring to the people that put this guy away)

25 YEARS! Crazy!

Britney
