Presidents arenít kings for god sakes. Thanks to men and a few strong women who took a rifle in hand, rallied together and defeated the British we have a democracy. It does take the house and senate to pass bills. Its not like Kerry or Bush can just declare the law of the land and OP's will go away.
Yes and no. With the current Republican President and puppet congress, he can very easily push through his agenda. Give him another four years, where he will not be held back by re-election concerns, and god knows how many more of our rights will become fond memories.
