Re: FL begins MEDICARE prescription tracking database

I think that this thread is mistitled. The article is talking about MEDICAID patients - not MEDICARE. Medicaid is for the poor and the disabled while medicare is for the elderley.

With this "new technology" it's not the elderly they will be focusing on. Whoever wrote that Fl has a huge voting block of seniors is right - but it does not effect them unless they move this to medicare as well. Jeb Bush will not alienate his biggest support group - at least not yet. No - let's hammer the poor first! These people have a difficult enough time finding docs that will even take medicaid - let alone prescribe anything that will help them! Disgusting!

Real nice - let's start the focus on medicaid patients - let's all assume the poor and mentally/physically disabled are drug seekers and doctor shop. I'm not one to get on the "discrimination soapbox" - but this is not right. Why not have one of these gadgets for all patients under all insurance? I know that they can't do this all at once - but again I think that it's a little telling that they automatically assume that it's the poor that are the "junkies". It makes me sick.
