http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/sptimes/index.html?ts=1072887511 Sorry, don't know how to do a link, might have to cut and paste. (edit) for some reason, the link only takes you to the search and not the actual article. Run the search with the data and dates filled in, then it should be result #11 from 12/26/03 titled "New Computer Will Track Prescriptions". ..... State health officials think so, too, and last year gave Medvedeff's Tampa company, Gold Standard Multimedia, the contract for a $2.5-million experiment to stop Medicaid patients from doctor shopping to get prescription narcotics. So far, Medvedeff has passed out about 1,000 hand-held computers to doctors who treat Medicaid patients. Using the devices, doctors are just a couple of buttons away from seeing which drugs have been prescribed to Medicaid patients in the past 60 days. Doctors can instantly see if a Medicaid patient had tried several times that week or month to get a prescription for addictive painkillers. But the devices also offer doctors access to a pharmacology database that can help them determine whether a patient is already taking a medication that would interfere with another drug the doctor wanted to prescribe. That's led to better treatment for Medicaid patients, Medvedeff said. The program caught the eye of Gov. Jeb Bush, who toured the company and wants the state to move forward with improving the health care industry's use of technology to cut down on health care costs. ..... and how soon before Big Brother JEB! rolls this out to all FL prescriptions. |
