Re: VA Doctor Arrested for Trafficking

I am with you Sonick. Dr. Hurwitz has been a pioneer in his specialty and a serious advocate for his patients. I have read several articles written about him and as I recall he was found to be in compliance and fought more than one battle with all kinds of alphabet soup groups (DEA, AMA, etc.) trying to educate them about pain management. He knows what it is really all about.
It is disgusting, the spin that has been put on this man and what he has done. The number of pills is totally irrelevant. There is no ceiling on opiate dosages. This Doctor spent an incredible amount of time and energy helping people who were on their way to Dr. Kevorkian. There will always be bad apples, that's life. Think of all the people who had a second chance at life that are now back in agony. The worst part if that they know it does not have to be that way and they are left without a choice. His life has been shattered as well as many he helped. This is a tragedy.
I don't know all the facts so I cannot state any of this as absolute truth but certainly there is more to this story. The public should be aware of ALL the facts. If I were an attorney I would defend this man for free. The case will hopefully raise awareness and perhaps set a precedent that will make it better for all of us in the future.
As far as the pregnant lady goes I cannot imagine any Mother who would intentionally do harm to her unborn child. Like with anything the risk/benefit ratio must be weighed and that is a very personal thing between the patient and her doctors. I hope I am never faced with that kind of situation. Quality of life is the priority. My heart goes out to her and to everyone who is affected by this.
Eventually the truth will be known. If he is a careless money grubbing pig then he will pay for it in more ways than one. If he is well intended and truly has the best interest of pain sufferers at heart I pray that it will be revealed and he be given the freedom and peace of mind to continue doing what he knows and loves.
That child molesting cop should be getting more attention. Those who take advantage of the helpless are the true criminals and they deserve the maximum punishment for their behavior, especially if they are in a position of power. Animals, children, the elderly and the mentally impaired should be protected. Exploitation of these is totally inhumane in my opinion.
Okay--I am done now. This is giving me a rash! Thanks for listening.
Peace to you all-
