Yes they can tell the difference. I was drug tested and had morphine and hydromorphone in my system I was covered legally for the morphine but not for the hydromorphone so I lost my job due to the positive for hydromorphone. Before that I thought they only could tell it was an opiate but the proof is in the pudding I am not working there anymore.
