sunbaby, I have heard similar horror stories, such as yours. I read an article one time in redbook, a few yrs back. Went something like this: An african american lady went into the ER, and was complaining of abdominal pain, Dr's did exam, and x-rays, come to find out,she was suffering from kidney stones, Dr ordered a shot of toradol for her, An hour later, she was still in pain, crying out for the nurses, and Dr. to give her something stronger for pain. Dr. told her to wait and give the medication more time to take effect. 6 hours later, she is still in ER, and crying out in pain, Dr tells her that kidney stones will pass. At this time her husband, who just so happened to be an attorney steps in, demanding relief. The Dr IMMEDIATLY gives her a shot of demerol! What's up with that? She told her story, b/c she felt the Dr's neglected her continual efforts to get pain relief, and was denied, just b/c of her gender, and race. I have been seen by many physicians, most looked at me like I was a nut or something, when I described my pain, Terri |
