What a great point Jeremiah!!
A few years back, my mom had surgery on all 10 toes to straighten them, because she has sever Rheumtoid arthritis.

She had these HUGE pins, coming out of each and every toe....Gosh, it makes me sick just thinking about it...

Anyway, after the surgery the Dr. gives her a script for Ultram!!!

Now any decent Dr. in his right mind would know tht once that anthesia wore off, she was going to have ALOT OF PAIN!! And she did..not ultram pain, we're talking the strongest Perc's type of pain! These 1 inch pins, coming out of each of her toes to keep them straight..UGHHH...it was horrible for her!

She called the Dr. the next day and for hours he was unable to come to the phone. He was not in surgery or anything, just, "He's with a patient right now, he'll have to call you back", type of BS. Finally my dad called...well, that SOB of a Dr. was on the phone ASAP! My mom had told them how much pain she was in, crying and begging to speak with the DR., but not until my dad called and told them, "Look, she is in severe pain and if that doctor doesn't get on this phone NOW, I will report him to the board". But my mom had said those SAME exact things as dad did, but they just seemed to 'ignore' her! But when dad spoke, they listened!!

Needless to say, that was the end of that Dr.! He wrote her a script for Perc's, and my dad drove 40 mins to his office to pick up a script that should have been given to her right after the surgery!

Bottom line: the Dr. didn't have time to hear about my mom's extreme pain from her, but jumped to hear what was going on from my dad. Almost like he didn't beleive her , unless my dad, could "back up what she said" ...

Sheesh!! I dont even want to think about those couple of days that she suffered, it makes me so MAD!!!

So...I agree, I think it happens alot with Dr.s, they think because women bare children, that they can take ANY kind of pain...Ofcourse this is JMHO!
