Mayhem123 raises an interesting question. Yes, what happens if you're seen in the E.R. on a Sunday night and prescribed painkillers, then seen by your regular doc the next day (Monday) and prescribed painkillers again? I have been in this situation before, and I will tell you that it is up to the discretion of the pharmacist whether to fill for you or not. My pharmacist told me that my insurance would not cover the cost of the painkillers on Monday because I received them on Sunday (I used my insurance and gave a co-pay). I then (brazenly, I must admit) asked "Well, can I just pay cash for them then?" His answer has always been "YES." (Remember that sign that McDonalds used to have [I'm takin' ya' back to the 60's, now] that would say "1,000,094 hamburgers sold!" Then for every hamburger they sold, they would adjust the quantity on the sign? Yea, I've always felt that my "large chainstore pharmacy" should put one in place saying "1,000,094 prescriptions sold-1,000 sold to Beetlenut." ![]() Please let me clarify. I'm simply not Miss Universe, just rather have been plagued with medical problems my entire life! Believe me-my pharmacist likes my business. |
