Re: Worst expierience ever?

I once had to have a tooth extracted, because it had fractured, and was causing me great pain. I went to this dentist my friend reccomended me to. He told me he could not do a root canal or Best if kept off the board because of the fracture, and wrote me a referral for an oral surgeon to have the tooth extracted. The dentist seemed to be in a big hurry the whole time during my exam. ( One of those chain places; multiple offices all over town) I have complete medical insurance, but NO dental insurance. He asked me if I had dental insurance, and when I told him no, I swear he did a complete turn around in his attitude. From in a hurry, to downright rude. He wrote me a rx. for vicodin. He claimed they could not do the extraction there. I immediately called the oral surgeon and explained my problem, and the fact I had a referral from this dentist. Their office could not get me in for 2 weeks!! I took the painkillers for 1 week, and ran out. This was terrible pain, by the way. I went back to the original dentist and told them I had an appt. that was a week away, and needed more pain killers prescribed. The receptionist/nurse attempted to give me a hard time about prescribing more meds!!! Let me tell you, I am a different person when in severe pain! There was a waiting room full of people. All I could think of was the fact I had spent $ 100.00 there the week before, and how rude and indifferent the whole staff seemed, especially the doctor. I spoke loudly, but calmly, ( and I made sure the whole waiting
room heard me) The doctor you referred me to can not get me in until next week, I expect some relief from this pain. Call your head dentist and your office manager out here right now. I have had enough of this attitude. Here comes the manager. I told her to call the oral surgeon and verify my appt. could not be done until 1 week later. I will sit here in your waiting room until I get what I came here for. Then I sat down. The whole
waiting room was staring in disbelief! She must have called the other dentist to verify, because 5 minutes later, out comes the dentist with a bottle of meds.(no Rx) the actual meds! and apologizes to me and hands them to me. They charged me the same price my insurance co. would have if I would have had to get it filled at pharmacy. Please note: this kind of action is totally against my character, but as you all know, pain is intolerable, especially when there is relief available. I have since found another general dentist who is MUCH better.
