cpmier makes a good point about "urban legends" and everybody putting in their "2 cents worth". So now here's mine. Many years ago I was a police officer. During that time I made a few friends at the federal law enforcement level, including two DEA personnel. I am still friends with both men. We have had discussions about the issue of OP's and both are of the opinion "who cares"----as long as someone is not getting sched I, II, (or sched III in really large quantities-which may indicate an intent to re-sale). Both agents know I get soma, xanax and valium from op's. Both have said if they were to "review" my case they would recommend against investigation-not because I am a friend-BECAUSE they have enough to worry about with crack, cocaine, heroine...........I do not know any customs people but my two friends are aquainted with a few. According to them three issues are involved when it comes to the customs people: Many of the customs people do not care if it is not a sched. I or II 2. Many are clueless anyway, and 3. All are overwhelmed with the number of packages they see everyday. I have received 5 seizure letters in 3 years. In the garbage they went and that was the end of it. Who knows if this will ever change, but when has our government ever improved upon anything it does. I just no longer worry about it. Good luck. |
