Re: Should the uninsured lay down and die?!

Eeyore

Iím glad you came back and hope you are willing to post your opinion anytime you want too. Yes I have been the same situation as your aunt, or at least to the point that a doctor was shoving more expensive meds down my throat than I could afford. I just insisted that I stick with generics, and told them I just could not afford what he was prescribing. You as a patient have the right to change doctors and I guess thatís where having NO insurance such as I do not pays off. I told him right out that I could not afford it and it was just that simple. If he could not help me the way I wanted, then he knew I was never coming back. There are other doctors out there that will help you the way you can only afford. Most certainly people with insurance get taken advantage of, and it is their own responsibility to see that it doesn't happen. If they allow their doctor to do this to them then they are in a way contributing to the problem. However I still say that lawsuits are the #1 reason for rising health insurance. That is malpractice as well as pharmaceutical lawsuits. I cannot see anything costing more billions a year to the consumer than lawsuits.

Take care!
