Tiger, If you didn't have to pay any taxes last year, and don't expect to pay any this year, you can fill out your W-2 'EXEMPT' and they won't take any taxes out. Then, you can put in the 'other amount to be taken out' whatever you think would cover your taxes. I hate to see you having to go the Independent Contractor route, because you have so many more taxes to pay. I wish I would've read about this before you switched companies. Cuz, it's really best if you can get them to do the w-4 that way you don't have to pay the SE Tax and worry about any kind of Estimated Tax Payments, etc. But, I know where you're coming from though, and you may have other expenses you can deduct going the 1099 route. Oh, well, just keep the info for any future situations that come up. Hey, email me some pics of the baby so I can post them! |
