Your post touched my heart and my soul, because I am one of those old people. The problem no one seems to realize is that we didn't earn enough money back "in the old days" to compensate for the ridiculous jump in medical costs over the last 40 years.

Amen, and the reason is that doctors and hospitals charge entirely much. The charges are astronomical and affordable only to the ultra rich. Healthcare is a necessity, not an option.
