The same thing has happened to me and I believe it meant that I was getting several packages delivered though from different companies.

Fed-Ex is the best as far as I am concerned and I have shipped and rec'd 100's of packages through them all. Good, EZ to understand tracking and it is usually very up to date but it is off at times, as are they all.

Airborne, not part of DHL sucks eggs. DHL, on the other hand has been excellent since taking over Airborne. Airborne has thieves big time so I hope they booted all the A/B peeps and replaced them with DHL.
