Re: PO box closed

Well just an update...

Last week I went to the post office, spoke to the lady in charge of the PO boxes. I mentioned that I thought I had been accidently locked out of my box. She knew exactly who I was, and which box I was refering to. She asked me to hold on for a couple minutes while she had to find the paper work on my box. Of corse that 2.5min wait seemed like an eternity, when she retured she had my mail in hand 2 parcels from OPs and other mail. She said that I was locked out of my box "because they didnt have positive identification on file". I had a chance to glance at my old application that she brougt out and indeed she did have all of my information. She had me fill out another application, again my other app was complete with drivers license and other info they wanted. The "nice" lady then asked me if they could photo copy my ID, so "we dont run into this confusion again". She then took a great deal of time explaining to me what was and was not acceptable material to recieve at a PO Box. She also went into great detail at how the US post office and other goverment agencys can be notified at any possible violation of these rules. Good God I felt as if I was being verbally lashed at by my mother.

My guess was that they were really curious who I was and wanted to make sure I hadnt somehow provided false ID.

Side note.... This really makes me wonder if US customs and other authoritys are not trying to step up monitoring controlled substances coming into a the US. Just about 2 months ago I got a cert in my mail box saying I had certified mail waiting from ther US customs. Of corse I never picked it up because I was not willing to give my DL# to pick up a letter saying we seized XXX and XXX.

Im not saying Im all knowing, but after doing this for almost 4 years in the last 6 months I have had my very first 2 seizures. Luck of the draw, or Increased survalence of orders from other countries. Not to mention what appears to be new tactics in Customs Dept, and the post office workers that seem to have a need to to do their "patriotic" duty and report any suspecious activity.
