My suggestion is to see a psychiatrist who is board-certified in addiction medicine. That way, your insurance thinks you are just going to a psychiatrist, as he probably takes on a wide variety of patients. Also, he can probably steer you in the right direction, as to what to do in the case of chronic pain and addiction.

It depends on the size of your hydro habit if bupe is right for you. http://buprenorphine.samhsa.gov/bwns_locator/ will help you find a doctor who's licensed to prescribe it. It's generally for people getting off h or methadone, but a high enough dose of hydro will be acceptable, too.

Btw, a lot of people mispronounce buprenorphine. Just for everyone's reference, it's pronounced: byoo-pren-OR-feen.
