Not knowing what dosage level you're at, I'd suggest that you reduce the dosage slowly rather than going cold turkey.

I've seen people go thru withdrawal from heroin -- common approach now is to give the patient either buprenex (aka temgesic) or methadone in daily decreasing amounts over about a week to ten days. Buprenex appears to be the kinder of the two and has the ability to block binding of other opiates, should you "cheat." They also typically give the patient 100mg of Trazadone at night to help sleep - there is great reluctance to give benzos to "people with an addictive nature." Personally, I think Legitimate is right, something like Klonopin/Rivotril would really help, especially in place of the hideous Trazadone. But you can't just start increasing the dose or you will end up with a new monkey. Many people claim that tramadol really helps, sounds like it didn't for you?
