Re: HELP! I just screwed up BIGtime!

I hate when your meds get stolen. Its always a really hard situation because its usually someone close to you, like a friend or family member. Thats what makes it so hard to confront that person. You think you know them really well, then they take your meds. You had no idea that they were addicted like that, then BOOM they steal yours. It happened to me, a close family member did that. While I knew they did it, it was so hard to confront them, since they would never admit it. That would be like admitting to the whole family that they were addicted. You don't want to call the police on them, since they are related, so its almost imossible to make the doctor beleive you actually were robbed. When it happened to me, I did nothing. I just made sure that the next time I was around that person I had some ex-lax in the Vicoden bottle. I think that will make the person realize that nobody is fooled by them, and that they can't do that. After she spent 4 hours in the bathroom she never went near my purse again. Soon after she checked into rehab, presumably because she was caught forging scripts.

Have I ever been tempted to take pills? Yes Im human and in pain a lot. I just wouldn't want anyone to do that to me again, so I couldn't take them. Someone is given those for a reason, and they could suffer if you take them. I also hate when you help someone out once in an emergency, then they are at your doorstep every time they have a headache. I made the mistake of helping out a neighbor. She is an ex heroin addict and she was coming off. I offered her a few methadone to help her through it, since I didn't want her to fall back on the needle. She was really bad off, had huge abcesses in her arms and had to get hospitalized. She was trying to detox herself, buying methadone off the streets. I tried to convince her to go to the doctor, they would put her on a methadone program. She finally did, but is still abusing her meds. I finally had to tell her NO, I couldn't spare a few, since my PM doc was managing me now, and counted them. She was disappointed, but maybe she will learn not to take her whole stash in three days. I had to learn that the hard way, and now that I have disciplined myself I realized that its not that bad. You have to stick with what the doctor gives you, its enough to take away the pain. She is using her methadone that is supposed to help her detox to get high. I guess she hasn't hit bottom yet, although I suspect her abcessed arm almost killed her. Well, sorry Im going on and on....
