Angelwolf, Why in the world did they give you reglan (metoclopramide)? Were you vomiting? I know my migranes can make me vomit. But reglan is for nausea and heart burn. I used to take it because I had a stomache problem where I would throw up every morning. It really helped for that. WTF were they doing giving you that medication in replace of demerol for a migraine? If they were so worried about the evil demerol why didn't they try imitrex, morphine or even dilaudid. You may need to file a complaint for improper treatment (unless you were vomiting or were extremely nauseated). Here is a description of what this drug is for: _________________________________________________ Reglan increases the contractions of the stomach and small intestine, helping the passage of food. It is given to treat the symptoms of diabetic gastroparesis, a condition in which the stomach does not contract. These symptoms include vomiting, nausea, heartburn, feeling of indigestion, persistent fullness after meals, and appetite loss. Reglan is also used, for short periods, to treat heartburn in people with gastroesophageal reflux disorder (backflow of stomach contents into the esophagus). In addition, it is given to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy and surgery. ____________________________________________________ I'm very sorry and angry to hear about your treatment experience. It really makes you wonder what state our medical centers are in when they aren't treating a patient based on their symptoms. J |
