Re: Oxycontin/Oxycodone - Who has tried it?

cucupuffs,

I know about the Pharmaceutical companies and their kickbacks all too well, as I have both family members & friends who work for doctors. They like to play the "prescribe this med" incentive game and guinea pig patients at whose expense? The patient, of course!

But if you scroll up & read my first post, I mentioned that I've never tried Oxy & am scared to death to take it. In my area, there was a huge scandal involving a doctor who was basically "selling" scripts to people, we had quite a few deaths among the teenage/young adult community, so the strongest thing that I'm ever going to take is hydro, and I don't even take it every day. I'd rather suffer with pain than be an addict, but that's just my own thing.

Addiction runs in my family, and I have a sister who is addicted to hydro, so I take them for pain and pain only. As a matter of fact, I went for months just taking the Ibuprofen before I finally broke down and ordered the hydro, so that should give you an idea about how reluctant I was to start taking it again. I had it prescribed short term to me once, and since it was the only thing that worked for my pain at the time, I finally broke down and ordered it. I hate to sound like an old stick in the mud, but at my age, I'm not looking to get high, so I strictly take it for severe pain only.

Thanks for the warning though, hopefully some of the other posters in this thread will find that information helpful to them.

Take Care,

Eeyore
