I guess I'm one of the lucky ones midrin works for. As far as imitrex goes, I'm allergic to that drug and others similar to it (hives, terrible nausea, etc). I'm surprised to hear that md's won't prescribe this drug as I've never had any problem getting a script for it. Nice thing is that it's really cheap, unlike imitrex, zomig, etc. I think the thing with midrin is that it has to be taken at the onset of the migraine or tension headache. The last time I had a really serious migraine, I ended up in the ER and it took 18mg of morphine to bring it down to a tolerable level. People who don't get migraines really have no idea how painful and debilitating they can be.
