I take skelaxin occassionally. My doc prescribed it because I was having excruciating headaches that were a result of a very traumatic experience. Headaches were so bad my temple area and the bones at the base of skull were painful to the touch. She rx'd me 800mg to take 1 at bedtime. It took a few days to kick in, but once my muscles started loosening up, headaches stopped. She's also prescribed for me since I have been experiencing repetitive bouts of sinus infections that cause the same type of headaches with pain in the same areas. However, skelaxin does NOT do anything to relieve the pain while it is there. It only takes care of the cause of the pain. I still needed to take pain killers until the skelaxin kicked in and relieved the muscle tension.
