Greetings to all!
Traveling to Mexico this weekend (Tijuana),
Questions:
1. Do I need Mexican MD scripts for all of these? or just the controled meds? (ambien, lorazepam, depo test...). My insurance co. just told me I have to change from Zoloft to generic Celexa. I tried several SSRI's, and for me, Zoloft is by far the BEST! I was hoping to be able to pick up 90 100 mg tabs, which would last me for 6 mos. since I break them in half. So do I need a script for this? Pretty much the same story for Protonix. It works best for me, but insurance is trying to change me to a cheaper med.
2. If a med is not available in the US can it be brought back, 90 units? I am possibly interested in bringing back Piracetam, clenbuterol (helps me with breathing), Imovane, retin A (to help with acne from depo test).
3. Can I ask before going into mexico what I can legally bring back? I do not want to end up in mexican jail! I have a faxed letter from my Doc stating what I am currently prescribed. And I have recent prescription bottles. I do not have photocopies of the original scripts.
Thanks folks! I hope to be able to help others as much as you folks have helped me.
1) Unfortunately, you need a mex script for every med you buy in TJ so that crooked TJ cops can't shake you down. A US script is not enough in mexico especially TJ.
2) by law, you can bring back unscheduled meds, but you better check first cuz i believe that the FDA just made piracetam a drug. you are in the grey area with clen and imovane. you still need TJ scripts for all these meds to legally carry them in TJ. TJ cops cannot f$[censored] with you if you have the mex scripts. if they do, tell them you want to see a judge right away and report them as well. They'll back down fast.
3)Check with the US consulate as they have all the info, laws and websites for US tourists to mexico/TJ.
