They are pretty harsh on the Texas borders. I was once detained myself and was almost hysteric. The guards were playing a joke on me, but I did not find it funny. They search you here pretty well and then you have to cross checkpoints after the border so you still are not home free once out of there. Yeah I personally would not do it either, I like my freedom too much.
