I am going to Mexico via plane soon, and I was wondering about bringing OP drugs with you, in and out of the country. I don't plan to buy meds there because of some of the horror stories I've read here. I have a prescription bottle for my hydrocodone, and will bring it in the bottle, but I don't have a prescription for the small quantity of valium I have. I was hoping I could bring a few pills with me at least for the plane ride. I've read some scary things about customs on this board. I also have a small quantity of tramadol and contugesic (dihydrocodeine) which helps on occasion. It would be nice to be able to bring one or two of those, but the hydro will be okay. I just like to take something weaker if I can get by with it.
I'd love to have a presciption for the valium, but it is like pulling teeth around here to get it. I once ended up in the emergency room due to severe anxiety, and all they gave me was 2.5 mg of something similar to valium - I think it was ativan - and it was weak and they made me wait 4 hours and charged me $500 for the privilege. Another friend of mine with anxiety has been to several docs, none of whom will prescribe valium...it is near impossible to get it here.
Anyway, I am wondering if I have to worry and if I should leave everything but the hydro at home? Is going through customs/security at the airport easier than doing it by land?
