Re: The real deal about going to Mexico?

A scary, but funny story, well sorta funny.

I was in the same market a few years back on my first trip to Cancun, with my girlfriend who is from Hungary(looks very American), but was raised in Mex City, so is fluent in about 7 langagues, of course including Spanish.

I was offered many things and given samples of many things, I really didnt think much of the samples, but the free Cerveza at each stand was nice. After about 3 hours of looking and each vender telling me they had the "best" "samples" we decided to jump on the bus and head back to the hotel. I commented to her that I wanted to look for one more item. We were in a very dark and secluded part of the market. She then quitley said "do you see those two men laughing over there", I said "sure looks like they are having a fiesta". She said "no they are talking about how they are going to abduct us(appently for trying samples and not buying any "samples"), then they are going to kill you and rape me and then decide where in the jungle they would dispose of the bodys".

Ok it wasnt soo funny, and at the time I think I droped one in my pants before getting on the bus.

One of my many lessons that while in a third world country, its real nice to know the language, and have eyes in the back of your head.
